Being a duck sounds deceptively simple until you have to find food, look after your ducklings, and deal with predators. In Duck Simulator, you can walk around the forests, explore the lakes, fly over to other islands, and see what is waiting there. You can go where you want, but it’s a good idea to pay attention to what’s around you.
How to Play Duck Simulator
On PC, WASD moves the duck and the mouse lets you look around. Need to get somewhere faster? Hold shift to sprint. When the ground isn't the best option, press U to take off. While flying, E takes you higher and X brings you down.
You will also need E when a predator gets too close, while F is used for different actions around the map. If you want to check the game information, press I. P pauses the Duck Simulator game, and Ctrl opens the settings.
Playing on mobile is more straightforward. Move with the joystick and drag the screen to change your view. Once the controls feel familiar, you can switch between walking and flying without having to think much about it.
Don't Play Duck Simulator Like a Straight-Line Adventure
You do not have to follow one route. Duck Simulator gives you plenty of room to wander, turn back, or take to the air when the ground gets boring.
- Explore the lakes: Check the water and nearby paths before moving farther out.
- Use the islands: Fly over when walking takes too long.
- Watch the forest: New areas can hide food—or trouble.
- Change your route: If a path feels unsafe, turn around and try another one.
- Follow the missions: They are a handy excuse to see places you might otherwise miss.
The Little Moments Are What Make the Adventure
Not every trip needs a big goal. You might leave the lake to find food, spot a new island on the way, or suddenly have to run because a predator is nearby. Even moving your ducklings from one place to another can turn into a small adventure when the route gets tricky.
That is where Duck Simulator feels most enjoyable: you set out for one thing, and something else often happens along the way.
